Intel prepare for the future IT landscape

Intel, customarily known as the microprocessor giant, is doomed to a process of change, trying to reinvent itself. Their focus is now on the "user experience".
The concept of "user experience" is accurately described by Wikipedia, which defines it as "the set of factors and elements of user interaction with an environment or specific device, resulting in the generation of a positive or negative perception of the service, product or device. " This principle is precisely the new philosophy of Intel.

Indeed, the company is no longer enough to launch processors getting faster every year. The so-called Moore's Law remains in place with Intel, but no longer has relevance. Currently, the important thing is to give the consumer the right experience, not the ability to place an increasing number of transistors on a microprocessor. This reality has led Intel to redefine itself as a company that provides solutions, not just chips.

This change has been described in a video by CEO Paul Otellini and other Intel executives. Basically, explain how Intel will no longer be a PC-centric company, a company that revolves around the computer itself.

In the video, the company describes the experience further, that the functionality will be available over the hardware units, a concept that Intel calls "transparency of the community" that in itself is a continuum.

"You say you want information, and the unit determines how information will be formatted. Then, the application will automatically make the experience appropriate to the unit's case," said Otellini.

Experience has shown that it is difficult to make categorical forecasts on the development of IT sector. However, it is possible to draw some general guidelines. Apart from mobility and apps, it is clear that interaction with the PC will change radically in the coming years. Examples include technologies such as Microsoft Kinect, Siri Apple and a number of products with multi touch screens. The trend is that the PC or device to react to our gestures and voice commands.

"We will interact with the PC entirely new ways. Sensors operated technologies emerge; they can record what is happening in front of the PC. It is possible, for example, record what the user looks. Another major concern is the safety. Levels of malware have grown to such an extent that is no longer possible to list malware. In fact, it is better to make a white list, blacklist. The last point is energy efficiency, where performance per watt will play a highly important role. “

In conclusion, a company that until now had focused on the processors were fast everything possible now implies the importance of reducing energy consumption, not only in portable units, which is logical because the battery-but also in large server farms in the cloud, which will be in charge of data processing, providing information and processed at the unit you choose to.
