Network Camera FCS-1081 with power to Ethernet

Introduction

Using modern network cameras for video surveillance has its pluses and minuses. On the one hand - this is ease of use, ease of integration and advanced monitoring functions that are realized by means of the camera itself, with another - the high cost of devices themselves and the complexity of installation of the cameras away from the infrastructure. For example, in the far end of the warehouse, where no power outlets, for network camera requires a power supply from external sources for the operation of the embedded server. Perhaps it is too early to say that the video surveillance system, built on the network cameras would be cheaper than traditional, but at least we can already say that the problem is solved with the help of food technology Power Over Ethernet (POE), which allows you to supply power on the network device directly to a network cable, that is, in our case solves the problem with the power supply to the network camera.

Today we look at the network camera Level One FCS-1081, supporting technology supply network POE.
Level One FCS-1081

As already mentioned, the main advantage of the new items is to support technology POE, which facilitates the installation of CCTV systems using network cameras. In addition, the camera boasts a compression algorithm MJPEG / MPEG and transfer the image resolution 704x576 (PAL) at up to 25 frames per second. Full list of characteristics is presented below:

Characteristics of Level One FCS-1081

Key Features
Compatible with standard IEEE802.4af (POE)
The full D1 resolution at a speed of 30/25 frames per second (NTSC / PAL)
Ability to use various lenses
Auto white balance
Software for 32-channel monitoring

Optics:

Nutrition
Power Over Ethernet
From external power supply (sold separately)

According to the specs, the camera looks quite decent: it allows you to send live video standard PAL / NTSC, has a highly sensitive sensor and a wide-angle lens. Everything as it should. But audio support in this version no. If it is needed, order cell FCS-1081A with sound support. And we have an ordinary camera, without sound, so its equipment:

Set the camera is as follows:
The camera itself
Tripod for stationary mounting
Instruction
CD-ROM with software.

Maybe you just need some accessories that Level One provides separately for convenience of their list:
CAS-1000A - Lens with variable focal length 3.5mm - 8mm
CAS-1000B - Lens with variable focal length 6mm - 60mm
BOH-1000 - case for outdoor installation of cameras
POW-1201 - power supply 12V/1.25A

Also you need POE equipment able to transmit power from CAT5 cable. Well, until the camera is looking at us, we look at it more closely.
The design of the Network Camera Level One FCS-1081

The camera is designed for the corporate market, so no frills in its construction there. It does not apply to models of covert surveillance, so looks like most camcorders, which we used to see in supermarkets and offices of banks. White, rectangular building dimensions 120x50x60 mm (without lens) is made of metal. Case is very well assembled - joints are almost invisible, which means that the camera will not be exposed to dust and dirt.

On the side of the shell are connector with automatic adjustment of the lens aperture and jumper settings for his work.

Included with the camera lens is supplied with a focal length of 4 mm and manual focus. This lens does not have the control function IRIS and can be used as a universal wide-angle optics, suitable for the majority of cases, monitoring the territory. If necessary, you can buy lenses:

Level One CAS-1000A (about 40 $)

Or Level One CAS-1000B (about 85 $)

On the reverse side of the camera are power jack, power connector with two LEDs, and analog video output.

The right of the power jack is recessed Reset button for a hardware reset the camera, if it hung, or if, for example, you forgot the password to access the administrative part.

Included with the camera comes handy mounting bracket for the stationary FCS-1081 on the wall or ceiling. The main body of the camera placed as much two slots for mounting to the tripod that whenever attaching the camera, you can fix it in the correct orientation.

Sam has a swivel stand, giving complete freedom to adjust the direction of the camera in all planes. A hollow leg of the bracket allows it to pass through a cable, not just one network, but the video cable and power cable.
